Snow White is a beloved and iconic figure in the glorious history of Disney. She is the first of the Disney princesses, starring in the first ever full-length animated movie.
However, the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White, set to dazzle in March of 2024, has been surrounded by controversies since Rachel Zegler, a 21-year-old actress of Colombian and Polish origin, was announced to play the nominative princess.
The backlash has intensified after old interviews revealed that Zegler had repeatedly expressed her disdain for the classic 1937 animated film and its portrayal of Snow White and Prince Charming.

Zegler also hinted that the live-action version would deviate significantly from the original story and emphasize Snow White’s empowerment and leadership.
These remarks have enraged many loyal Disney fans, who have accused Zegler of showing disrespect to the precious legacy of Snow White and trying to alter the story to match her personal agenda, fearing that it could jeopardize the success of the film and even lead to her dismissal by Disney.
It is very improbable that Disney will fire Rachel Zegler from the Snow White live-action film which is scheduled to release on 22 March, 2024.

Despite her previous controversial comments, none of them had any direct relation to the film or her role in it. Moreover, Disney had not made any public statements regarding Ziegler’s conduct. She still remains listed on the cast list for the movie.
Although Disney could possibly address Zegler’s behaviour privately, it is improbable for them to go to the extreme measure of firing her.
Zegler has amazing acting skills and has already received rave reviews for her outstanding performance in West Side Story. She has a huge following on social media, making her a popular figure.
Firing her would result in a public relations disaster for Disney and could potentially damage the film’s chances at the box office.
In a September 2022 interview with Variety, Zegler was asked what she meant when she said she was bringing a modern edge to the character.
Further, in another interview with Extra TV, Zegler called the prince in the original tale a stalker and even suggested that her co-star Andrew Burnap’s scenes as Prince Charming might be cut from the film.
These comments have provoked outrage among many Disney fans, who accused Zegler of disrespecting the legacy of Snow White and trying to rewrite the story to fit her own agenda.
Some TikTok users have criticized the actress for what they perceive as a lack of gratitude for a potentially life-changing role and also called her out for what they see as pseudo-feminism.

While some admirers have expressed their concern that Zegler’s comments could jeopardize the success of the film and possibly cause her to be fired by Disney.
However, not everyone has opposed Zegler’s casting or her views. Some fans have supported her and praised her for bringing a fresh perspective to an outdated story.
